Full-Face Crochet Hat

This Full-Face Hat has a drawstring around the neck to keep your loved ones even warmer.                   
'J Hook'
Worsted Weight Yarn- I used Redheart
Stitches used:
SC-Single Crochet
HDC-Half Double Crochet
FSC-Foundation Single Crochet

* you can either work in a continuous circle or join with a slip stitch after each row. I chose to join when making my hat.



Basic Hat/Beanie
Start with Magic Circle
1. 8 HDC into Magic Circle, join to beginning with slip stitch...here and throughout...ch1.    (8HDC)
2. *2 HDC into each HDC *, around, join, ch1.       (16HDC)
3. *2 HDC in 1st HDC, 1 HDC in next*, around, join, ch1.  (24HDC)
4. *2 HDC in 1st HDC, 1 HDC in next 2 HDC*, around, join, ch1.  (32HDC)
5. *2 HDC in 1st HDC, 1 HDC in next 3 HDC*, around, join, ch1.  (40HDC)
6. *2 HDC in 1st HDC, 1 HDC in next 4 HDC*, around, join, ch1.  (48HDC)
7. *2 HDC in 1st HDC, 1 HDC in next 5 HDC*, around, join, ch1.    (56HDC)
8-14. *1 HDC in each HDC*, around, join, ch1.  (56HDC)
15. *1 SC in each HDC*, around, join, ch1. (56SC)
16. *1 HDC in each SC*, around, join, ch1.  (56HDC)
17. *1 SC in each HDC*, around, join, ch1.  (56SC)

---For Basic Beanie: Do Not Ch1 after Round 17, Finish off.
---For Full-Face Hat: DO NOT finish off, continue on to next step.

Full-Face
1. 1 HDC in first 18 SC, 1 SC in next 20 SC, 1 HDC in last 18 SC, join, ch1.   (36HDC/20 SC)
2. 1 HDC in first 18 HDC, FSC 20, Skip the 20SC from previous row, 1 HDC in last 18 HDC, join,ch1.  (36HDC/20FSC)
3. 1 HDC in first 18 HDC, 1 SC in each of the FSC, 1 HDC in last 18 HDC, join, ch1.  (36HDC/20SC)
4-17. *1 HDC in each HDC and SC from previous row*, around, join, ch1.  (56HDC)
18. *SC, Ch1/Skip1*, around, join, ch1. -This row is for the i-cord drawstring-   (28SC/28Ch1spaces)
19. *SC in each SC and Ch1 space from previous row*, around, join, ch1.  (56SC)
20. *HDC in each SC*, around, join.  (56HDC)
Finish off, weave in ends. Total length of hat is approximately 16". 

* Make an i-cord or crochet a chain to weave through the chain1 spaces on row 18.
